Sensational New York Pizza @ Yellow Cab Pizza, Manila, Philippines

Four Seasons Pizza

Yellow Cab Pizza offers finest New York's style pizza, hot chicken wings, spaghetti and baked potatoes. They even offers 24-hour delivery for Metro Manila area, which is perfect for the growing 24/7 call center services business.

We ordered 1 super large 18'' Four Seasons pizza, 1 large 14'' Peperoni & mushroom pizza, baked potatoes and Charlie Chan pasta. Four seasons pizza is extremely huge and can easily feed 8 people. It is a quartet pizza with 4 different flavors such as garlic & shrimps, cheese, NY classics and Anchovy. We received the pizza piping hot and the dough is not thick and fluffy. The toppings are generous and topped with huge amount of yummy melted cheese.

Mushroom Peperoni Pizza

While button mushroom was perfectly matched with peperoni in the mushroom pepperoni pizza we ordered. I must admit that Yellow Cab pizza easily beats Pizza Hut. The accompanied hot sauce and dried chili flakes were good too.

Baked Potatoes

The stuffed potato halves were equally impressive with loads of cheese and bacon sprinkled on top of soft and fluffy potatoes.

Charlie Chan Pasta

Above all, I discovered the perfect Oriental fried pasta: Charlie Chan Pasta. Tender chicken strips, Shiitake mushroom, roasted peanuts are sauteed in a spicy sauce. The sauce is a key ingredient in this dish and is highly addictive with a combo of spicy, sweet and savoury flovor. I love it!

French Onion Soup

Finally the much awaited, world famous St. Louis Ribs plus grill shrimps combo meal with coleslaw and steamed rice as side dishes. I must admit that this is a really good grill ribs dish which is well marinated, grilled to perfection with tender meat literally falling off the bones. The BBQ sauce utilized is both spicy, sweet and tangy. The grilled shrimps though is acceptable and nothing to shout about. Prices are slightly on the high-side at around USD25 for this combo meal with a cup of refillable iced tea.

If you have a cravings of finger licking good grill baby back ribs. Tony Romas will definitely satisfied your cravings.

Delicious & Affordable Hawker Food @ Hanoi, Vietnam

Myriad of Roadside Food Stalls in Hanoi

A simple post to share the myriad food stalls in the city of Hanoi during my trip earlier this year. Hanoi is a wonderful city with strong French influence and deep rooting in traditional Vietnamese culture. The first thing that hits you is the sheer number of road side food stalls operating at almost every corner of the streets. Most of these stalls sell similar food dominated by pho (the traditional Vietnamese beef noodles), porridge and a type of Vietnamese sandwich (French Mini Baguette stuffed with ham and vegetables).

One may also notice the huge number of street peddlers selling everything from wood and bamboo souvenirs to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Remember to buy the traditional Vietnamese sweet and delicious green bean cake as shown in the photos below. It costs around USD2 with very nice packaging and is best to savor during tea time.

Vietnamese pancake is also very popular with bean sprouts and port sausage fillings. Beware though for the calories freak as it is cooked using lard.

These is also a number of shops selling preserved fruits in Hanoi. From olive, prunes, pineapple, guava, mandarin orange peels, grapes to plums, you name it and most probably will be on sale.

Preserved Fruits

French influence could be seen in modern bakeries that prepare amazing cakes as well as stalls that sell cakes and breads in the famous Hanoi Night Market. With such a wonderful mixture of contrasting cuisines available, you will be up for a gastronomic indulgence.

Giant Food Court @ Medan Selera SS2, Petaling Jaya

Hawker Food Galore in SS2 Food Court

The giant food court in SS2, Petaling Jaya is very famous for PJ folks. More than 50 separate stalls selling a myriad of good food could be found here ranging from Northern food such as the famous Penang Laksa, Lobak, Ipoh beansprout chicken to Southern Baba & Nyonya food from Malacca are readily available.

This post is dedicated to the affordable hawker food sold in SS2 food court since inflation that stem from the rising petrol price has hit us hard and fast. One of the specialty that is sold here is grill fish. You can select from a wide range of fish choices and cooking style such as Portuguese to Indonesian style. The fish is then grilled over a banana leaf with generous amount of sauce pour over it. I particularly like Indonesian style grill stingray as it is both tangy and spicy.

Other recommended dishes include steam flat rice noodle or 'zhu cheong fun' and grill chicken wings. The 'zhu cheong fun' sold here is not too oily, salty and best eaten with the addictive extra chili paste.

For desserts, I particularly like the savory one such as fried yam and radish cake from the Nyonya desserts stall that comes with fabulous sweet and chili sauce. All these glorious food is accompanied by a bowl of refreshing sea coconut drink.
